About Your Room

All patient rooms are private, and most have room for a family member to spend the night. Please let us know if we can make you more comfortable.

Room Features
Bed Controls Side rail of bed
Cleaning The staff can provide clean towels, change your sheets and make your bed. Your room will be cleaned daily. Let us know if anything in the room isn’t working.
Food and Dining

Food Services will take your order three times a day and bring breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Family members are welcome to bring in food and drinks, but please be respectful of the patient’s dietary needs and restrictions. Ask a nurse if you’re not sure what these are.

Please also note that many patients are sensitive to the smell of certain foods. We encourage you to use the cafeteria seating when eating meals. Check your hospital’s page for cafeteria hours.

Nurse Call

Use the bed control to contact the nurse. This will send you to a unit coordinator, who will route your request.

Most patients are visited hourly by a nurse or medical assistant, except when you’re asleep. Ask your nurse if you can expect a visit every hour.
Telephones

Dial “9” to get an outside line. Dial “0” to reach a hospital operator for help with any services or to be transferred to a long distance carrier. Long distance calls may not be charged to the room.

Cell phones may be used in the hospital. Please be mindful of others.

A Telephone Device for the Deaf (TDD) is available for patients and parents who are hearing impaired.
White Boards Lists contact names and phone numbers for your healthcare team and information about your health goals and plans. You can list your questions for the team on the board.

We want you and your loved ones to have the best care possible. Patient advocates can:

  • Address questions or concerns about your care
  • Explain policies
  • Notarize healthcare documents
  • Help you get a translator
  • Acknowledge outstanding members of the care team
  • Provide information on patient rights and responsibilities
  • Provide information on filing patient care complaints with the State of Tennessee, the State of Mississippi, and Det Norske Veritas group (DNV)

Your Experience Matters

As a patient, family member, community representative or employee of Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare you have the right to notify the Joint Commission regarding any concern about the quality or safety of care, as well as safety of the environment in which care is provided.

We participate in the nationally standardized Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) Survey. One to two weeks after you leave the hospital, you may receive a phone call from Press Ganey Associates asking specific questions about your experience with us. Comments and scores are shared with our staff, and overall scores are reported nationally for all hospitals on www.hospitalcompare.hhs.gov.

Discharge Information

Discharge from the hospital happens when your symptoms stabilize and you can continue recovery in another setting. Depending on your case, you may discharge to:

  • Go home with support of family or friends.
  • Go home with outside support – such as home health, hospice or outpatient treatments.
  • Transfer to a rehabilitation or nursing home skilled facility.
  • Transfer to another type of specialty hospital.
Planning for Your Discharge

We want you to have the help you need when you leave the hospital, and we encourage you and your family to work with us on a discharge plan. If you have questions about your discharge, talk to your case manager, social worker, doctors, or nurses.

These questions will help you with discharge plans:

  • Do you plan to return to where you were living before you came to the hospital?
  • Do you have friends or family members that will be able to help you after discharge?
  • Are you currently able to get around your home without difficulty?
  • Do you have problems getting or taking your medication?
  • Do you have new medications and do you understand their side effects?
  • What medical supplies or equipment do you use at home? Do you need supplies or equipment?
  • Do you see a doctor regularly? Do you have a ride to doctor appointments?
  • Does your health limit your ability to do your day-to-day activities (bathe, cook, dress, etc.)?
  • Do you have questions about your disease/illness and how to manage your care when you leave the hospital?
  • What most worries you about leaving the hospital?

Tobacco-free Environment

In order to give you the healthiest possible environment during your stay, we’ve joined a city-wide initiative for tobacco-free hospitals. Individuals may not use any tobacco products anywhere on our campuses. That includes hospitals, parking lots/decks, sidewalks, and in cars on hospital property.

When you’re admitted to a Methodist hospital, please let the admissions staff know if you use tobacco. we’ll give this information to your doctor, who can arrange nicotine replacement products or discuss alternatives for you. If you’re ready to stop using tobacco, tell your doctor or nurse. They can help.
