The Methodist University Hospital Ultrasound Department recently received accreditation from the American College of Radiology (ACR) in general, gynecological, and vascular ultrasound. To earn this accreditation, MUH has voluntarily gone through a rigorous review process examining personnel and equipment.
“We are highly focused on providing medical excellence for our patients at Methodist University Hospital,” said Kevin M. Spiegel, FACHE, chief executive officer of Methodist University Hospital. “Achieving accreditation from the ACR for our ultrasound programs demonstrates our commitment to delivering outstanding patient care.”
ACR is a national organization servicing more than 32,000 diagnostic and interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine and medical physicists.
Ultrasound is used to evaluate patients without radiation. It is beneficial for patients who require repeated exams such as patients with liver or kidney transplants. It is also very helpful in the evaluation of vascular disease, abdominal and pelvic disorders, and evaluating patients at risk for strokes. Early detection of these life-threatening diseases is possible through the use of noninvasive ultrasound testing.
