Kian Modanlou, M.D., F.A.C.S., has joined the surgical staff of Methodist University Hospital Transplant Institute. Dr. Modanlou will also serve as assistant professor in the University of Tennessee Health Science Center Department of Surgery.
Dr. Modanlou comes from St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri, where he was a member of the transplant program’s surgical staff specializing in abdominal transplants. While at St. Louis University, Dr. Modanlou was also an associate professor in the division of abdominal transplant in the department of surgery.
“We are very pleased Dr. Modanlou has joined our transplant team,” said James Eason, M.D., medical director for the Methodist University Hospital Transplant Institute. “His exceptional surgical skills along with his expertise in laparoscopic liver surgery and extensive knowledge will definitely be an asset for our transplant program and our patients.”
Dr. Modanlou has a bachelor of Science degree from Duke University and received his medical degree from the University of California, Davis. His postgraduate training includes work as an intern and resident in general surgery at the University of Colorado Health Science Center in Denver. He also completed a fellowship in transplantation surgery at Northwestern University in Chicago, Ill. Dr. Modanlou's professional memberships include the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Transplantation, American Society of Transplant Surgeons and the United Network of Organ Sharing (UNOS) regional review board.
