Our Team Approach
As part of our comprehensive approach to care, a team of experts meets twice a month for Tumor Board to discuss the best possible treatment plans. This collaboration brings various specialists, including oncologists, radiologists, therapists and social workers, together to offer innovative ideas for care. Head and neck cancer can affect all parts of a patient’s life, so it’s crucial to have the best care team assembled to offer the appropriate level of support.
When a patient is diagnosed with head or neck cancer, surgery may be an appropriate piece of the care plan. At Methodist University Hospital, surgeons strive to use minimally invasive approaches when appropriate. Our Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery features dedicated MIS suites in the OR with the latest technology and equipment, as well as a staff specifically trained on these procedures. In addition to surgery, treatment plans may include radiation and chemotherapy. With a multi-disciplinary team in place, patients receive the benefit of a customized care plan designed to treat their specific condition.
