Ally Courson (PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice) grew up in Boca Raton, FL. She graduated from Nova Southeastern University College of Pharmacy. Ally’s professional interests are in solid organ transplant, nephrology and emergency medicine. Her research project for the year will be focused on evaluating rifaximin use in hospitalized cirrhotic patients with hepatic encephalopathy. Her favorite thing about the Memphis area is the friendliness and southern hospitality of Memphians and her favorite activity is to have fun with her co-residents.
Deidra Dickerson (PGY-1 Health System Pharmacy Administration) grew up in Memphis, TN. She obtained her B.S. at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN and her Pharm.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy. Deidra’s professional interests are in operations, medication safety, and hospital administration. Her research project for the year will be focused on evaluating antipsychotic use and QT Interval monitoring in hospitalized patients. Her favorite thing about the Memphis area is the amazing BBQ and basketball playoff season with the Grizzlies.
Mike Erdman (PGY-2 Critical Care) grew up in Bloomington/Normal, Illinois. He graduated from Butler University and completed his PGY-1 residency at Indiana University Health. His professional interests are in critical care, infectious diseases, and neuro. His research project for the year will be focused on safety of dexmedetomidine in neurocritical care patients. His favorite activity in the Memphis area is swimming, or running and biking outside, and watching the Packers.
Libby Giesler (PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice) grew up in Colleyville, TX. She graduated from the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy. Libby’s professional interests are in the emergency department and critical care. Her research project for the year will be focused on evaluation of acute, non-opioid management of migraine headaches in the emergency department. Her favorite things about the Memphis area are the incredible thunderstorms and abundance of unique restaurants.
Chris Hilty (PGY-2 Health System Pharmacy Administration) grew up in Port Richey, FL. He graduated from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy and completed his PGY-1 here at Methodist. He is currently enrolled in the MBA program with a concentration in Pharmacy Practice Management at the University of Memphis. Chris’s professional interests are in medication safety, informatics, and emergency medicine. This year, he will be conducting a quality improvement initiative to reduce readmissions for heart failure patients. His favorite things about Memphis area are the overabundance of great southern food, the melting pot of culture, and finally being able to experience the change in seasons.
Shanise Jamison (PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice) grew up in Memphis, TN. She graduated from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Shanise’s professional interests are internal medicine. Her research project for the year will be focused on the analysis of anti-diabetic regimens associated with increase percentage of hypoglycemic patient days. Her favorite activity in the Memphis area is the South Main Arts District Trolley Night.
Kerry Mohrien (PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice) grew up in Upstate, NY. He graduated from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Kerry’s professional interests are in academia, infectious disease, and critical care. His research project for the year will be focused on antimicrobial therapy in hospital acquired and healthcare associated pneumonia. His favorite thing about the Memphis area is hanging out downtown.
Jane Revollo (PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice) grew up in Athens, Ga. She graduated from the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Jane’s professional interests are in solid organ transplant. Her research project for the year will be focused on comparing the interaction between tacrolimus and fluconazole versus clotrimazole. Her favorite things about the Memphis area are the many running groups and the trampoline park.
Erica Rogers (PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice) grew up in Dyersburg, TN. She graduated from Union University School of Pharmacy. Erica’s professional interests are in ambulatory care and academia. Her research project for the year will be focused on comparing missed antibiotic doses prior to and after CPOE implementation. Her favorite thing about the Memphis area is she can try a new restaurant every week.
Sami Sakaan (PGY-2 Internal Medicine) grew up in Aleppo, Syria, and he earned his bachelor’s degree from University of Memphis. He completed his pharmacy education at the University of Tennessee and his PGY-1 here at Methodist. His professional interests are in cardiology and infectious diseases. His research project for the year will be focused on the effect of chronic kidney disease on warfarin dosing requirements. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, swimming, and playing soccer.
Michael Samarin (PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice) grew up in Knoxville, TN where he attended the University of Tennessee for undergraduate and then the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy where he earned his Pharm.D. Michael’s professional interests are in critical care and infectious disease and he hopes to do a PGY-2 residency in critical care. His research project for the year will be focused on vancomycin in patients on dialysis. His favorite things about the Memphis area are the food, especially the BBQ, and attending Memphis in May and Redbirds games in the summer.
Heather Snyder (PGY-2 Transplant) grew up in Duncansville, PA. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy and completed her PGY-1 here at Methodist. Heather’s professional interests are in solid organ transplant. Her research project for the year will be focused on Thymoglobulin dosing in kidney transplantation. Her favorite thing about the Memphis area is that there’s no snow!
Nate Walleser (PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice) grew up in Waterloo, IA. He graduated from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. Nate’s professional interests are in pediatrics and oncology. His research project for the year will be focused on evaluating therapy for systemic fungal infections. His favorite activities in Memphis are trivia night at the Saucer and continuing his search for the best BBQ in town.
Whitney Wallis (PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice) grew up in Clarksville, TN. She graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy. Whitney's professional interests are in Internal Medicine and Oncology. Her research project for the year will be focused on Chemotherapy Induced Nausea and Vomiting. Her favorite activity in the Memphis area is going to the Farmer's Market and to the park.
Susan Wheelis (PGY-2 Oncology) grew up in Memphis, TN. She graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy and completed her PGY-1 here at Methodist. Her professional interests are in Oncology. Her research project for the year will be focused on smoking cessation counseling. Her favorite thing about the Memphis area is the MUSIC.
