Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare is proud to have affiliations with top healthcare and teaching organizations in Memphis. Methodist has two primary teaching partnerships. The first is the The University of Tennessee. UT and Methodist Healthcare became formally affiliated in 2002, with Methodist Central changing its name to Methodist University Hospital. Research shows that the best medical centers in the country are academic medical centers and recent studies demonstrate that mortality rates are lower in major teaching hospitals. The second teaching partnership is with the University of Memphis. Methodist Healthcare has established several programs with the University of Memphis for the advancement of healthcare technology, leadership and economics.
