24-Hour Emergency Room Care for Children & Adults within 30-Minutes, Guaranteed

Methodist North's newly renovated Emergency Department operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week treating emergencies and is designated as a Basic Pediatric Emergency Facility participating in the Comprehensive Regional Pediatric Center Network of Le Bonheur Children's Hospital to treat children's emergencies.  Our Certified Chest Pain Center provides specialized attention and treatment for those who need immediate help with chest pain. Because our goal is to provide you with excellent care, Methodist North is committed to reducing your wait time in the Emergency Room. We guarantee that you will be seen by a Physician, a Physician's Assistant or a Nurse Practitioner within 30 minutes of arrival.

Cardiac Services

Methodist North's cardiac services now include the most advanced heart diagnostic technology in the world with our new GE LightSpeed VCT 64-Slice Scanner. Previously unavailable in the Mid-South, this new state-of-the-art imaging tool can scan the entire body in ten seconds and produce images of the heart and coronary arteries in less than five heartbeats. It is also important in diagnosing and pinpointing stroke and other neurological problems. Cardiac catheterization, open-heart surgery, and a full range of diagnostic tests including Holter monitors, EKGs and echocardiograms are also available at Methodist North.

LIFENET

Methodist North Hospital is also on the forefront of saving the lives of heart-attack patients by using LIFENET, which provides a critical link between paramedics in the field to hospital-based physicians in the emergency room. Paramedics with the Bartlett Fire Department are able to use their digital cell phone to send a diagnostic-quality electrocardiogram from their defibrillator to the emergency room at Methodist North. The transmission takes just 90 seconds and allows the cardiology team to mobilize and be prepared to treat the patient as soon as the ambulance arrives.

World's Smallest Heart Pump - Lifesaving Technology

Methodist North Hospital is the first hospital in Memphis and the surrounding communities to use the world's smallest heart pump, the Abiomed Impella 2.5 circulatory support system, which uses a tiny pump to take over the job of circulating blood from the heart to the rest of the body. If the heart becomes so sick that it cannot maintain circulation, it needs mechanical help. This support system allows the failing heart to rest, recover or transition to a longer-term solution. Learn more about the Abiomed Impella.

Chest Pain Center

Methodist North is proud to be one of only a handful of hospitals in the region to receive full accreditation as a Chest Pain Center from The Society of Chest Pain Centers. A non-profit organization focused on improving care for patients, the Society of Chest Pain Centers evaluates chest pain programs and protocols. To earn this distinction, Methodist North demonstrated facility and personnel expertise and met or exceeded a wide set of stringent criteria.

Associates from the Chest Pain Center are available for community education events and speaking engagements on heart attack prevention and early warning signs. For more information, please contact the coordinator of the Chest Pain Center at 901.516.5958 or 901.516.0531. More information on heart attack warning signs and prevention can be found by visiting Act in Time, a program by the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute.

Center for Total Joint Surgery

  • Eleven spacious inpatient rooms, specifically designed for orthopaedic patients
  • Rooms furnished with sleeper sofas for the comfort of visiting family members.
