Cardiothoracic Surgery Patient Mentor Program

Facing a stay in the hospital and undergoing a complex open-heart procedure can be an overwhelming experience. Talking with someone that has been through the surgery before can help prepare both you and your family for what to expect during and after your hospital stay.

The Cardiothoracic Surgery Patient Mentor Program at Methodist Germantown is designed to provide pre- and post-surgery support by matching patients with a volunteer mentor. Depending on your preferences, mentors offer tours of the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) before your surgery so that you and your family can become familiar with what your surroundings will look like. They can also introduce you to staff, address questions or concerns you may have, and provide encouragement during your recovery and rehabilitation.
