Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown
7691 Poplar Avenue
Works are available for purchase with proceeds going to the Methodist Healthcare Foundation. Resident birds and volunteers from the Mid-South and Reelfoot Lake Raptor Recovery Center will also be on hand.
An accomplished amateur photographer, Dr. Sloas became a photography enthusiast after realizing the blank, sterile walls at his gastroenterology practice needed to be warmed up.
“I realized the walls were so barren and cold, so I decided it would be much nicer for my patients and their families if the rooms were more relaxing,” said Dr. Sloas. “That’s when I bought a camera and taught myself how to take pictures.”
A philanthropic craft, all proceeds from his works have been donated to such charities as Make A Wish Foundation, American Cancer Society, MIFA, and now, Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital. The hospital’s event highlights a larger collection donated by the physician that will hang in 200 patient rooms. Many of the pictures have been taken on the campus of Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital.
Forty canvases featuring local wildlife images will be on display at the reception and are available for purchase. The reception is open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
