Gene FernandezMethodist Le Bonheur Healthcare has named Eugenio “Gene” Fernandez, FACHE, vice president and chief technology officer (CTO). As CTO, Gene will develop Information Technology infrastructure strategy, including smart devices, mobility, wireless and security, and grow and support MLH Information Technology teams. 

With more than 20 years of experience as a healthcare information management bilingual executive, Gene has extensive knowledge of healthcare information technology systems, implementation, business process reengineering, IT strategic planning, IT outsourcing and project management. Prior to joining L.A. Care Health Plan, he served as chief information officer at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., and the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Va. 

Gene earned a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University and holds master’s degrees from Purdue University and the University of Illinois at Springfield.
